About EvoEdu
In
2008, it came to my attention that despite evolution's importance and
controversial nature, there was no free source that offered
high-quality, easy-to-understand evolution education. You either had to
pay for a textbook (which was probably hard to understand anyway) or
you had to go to some website that doesn't do a particularly good job,
or assumes that you know a lot about science. I wanted to do something
about this problem. Work began on EvoEdu in August. In February of
2009, I published EvoEdu.
About the Author
My
name is Tristan Zimmerman, and all my life I've been fascinated by
science. It's interesting, it's cool, and it's fun. My passion for the
subject has often given me that extra edge I need to explain something
to friends and family, and to get across exactly how cool that
something is. Ever since I, as a young lad, first picked up a book
about dinosaurs, I've been surrounded by the idea of evolution. At
first, I merely understood it as living things changing over time, but
as I grew older, I started to understand the idea better. It was just
intuitive for me – it simply made sense. You can imagine my
surprise when I befriended someone whom I later discovered to be a
hardcore challenger of evolution. It never occurred to me that a smart,
rational person could not have an intuitive understanding
of the
subject like I did, and I found that it seemed mostly due to
misunderstandings. I discovered that several other friends of mine
accepted evolution, but really didn't know the first thing about it.
When I discovered that there was no online resource to send people like
my friends to, I decided to create one. Folks deserve a high-quality
evolution education resource, and that's what I'm trying to give them.
